The Jigawa State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to fairness, transparency, and community-centered development following a high-powered Stakeholders Roundtable held yesterday on the Gagarawa Agribusiness Project.
Presided over by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Aminu Usman, the meeting engaged Great Northern Agribusiness (GNA), a subsidiary of the Lee Group, to align the project’s objectives with the aspirations and welfare of the host communities.
The roundtable served as a significant platform for dialogue, bringing together a distinguished assembly of traditional leaders, including the District Head of Danzomo, the Dokajin Gumel, the Tafidan Gumel, and several other district heads from the affected areas. Their presence was described as a strong symbol of unity and deep concern for the wellbeing of their people.
Also in attendance were the Executive Chairmen of Gagarawa, Sule Tankarkar, and Taura Local Government Areas, further demonstrating a shared resolve to ensure the project does not compromise the livelihoods of the local population.
Key officials from the state’s investment promotion agency, InvestJigawa, including the Director General, Hajia Aisha Sheikh Mujaddadi, and the Secretary/Legal Adviser, Dr. Zakiyyu Muhammad, participated fully in the discussions to facilitate constructive engagement between the investors and the communities.
At the end of the deliberations, the stakeholders reaffirmed a collective commitment to welcoming investment into Jigawa, but strictly under terms that prioritize fairness, transparency, and the protection of the people.
The Deputy Governor reiterated that while Jigawa remains open for business, its economic agenda is guided by cooperation, inclusivity, and unwavering respect for community livelihoods.
