Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has firmly denied reports suggesting that he is planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Badaru described the claims as false and speculative, insisting that he remains a committed member of the ruling party.
The rumours had gained traction following reports of internal disagreements within the APC in Jigawa State, particularly between Badaru and the current governor, Umar Namadi.
Party sources have hinted at growing unease among some APC members in the state, with allegations that certain blocs feel sidelined in party and government affairs.
However, Badaru moved quickly to dismiss any suggestion of a defection.
“I categorically state that the report is entirely false, unfounded, and a product of political mischief,” he said in the statement, which was made available to journalists by his media aide, Mati Ali.
The former minister stressed that his allegiance to the APC, a party he helped to establish, remains unchanged.
“My loyalty to the APC is absolute and unwavering. I have no intention whatsoever of leaving the party,” Badaru stated.
He urged party members and the general public to ignore the rumours, warning that such reports were designed to create confusion and deepen divisions within the party.
