…says data prove Tinubu’s reforms are yielding gains
Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communications, Daniel Bwala has defended the current administration’s economic policies, asserting that recent criticism about the level of hunger in the country is not supported by data.
In an interview on TV addressing a critique from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Bwala argued that the opposition is simply trying to demarket the government.
According to Bwala, the administration’s progress and achievements are being ignored.
He cited an increase in foreign reserves, net exports, and a stable economy as evidence of success [01:47]. He also pointed to government initiatives such as the provision of caesarian sections in all Nigerian hospitals and the establishment of the Nail Fund.
Bwala encouraged Nigerians to evaluate the government based on the actions it is taking rather than political rhetoric.
He highlighted the implementation of the CNG promise and the withdrawal of subsidies as examples of the administration’s proactive measures to address long-standing economic issues.
He further accused the opposition of “dog-whistling for civil unrest” by ignoring the facts and attempting to stir up discontent.
Despite the public’s desire for immediate relief, Bwala emphasized that these changes are gradual and that overnight results are not realistic.
He also expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far and remains committed to its long-term economic projections.
Bwala concluded by urging citizens to judge the administration on the dynamics of what they are putting in place to improve the economy.
