Youth Commissioners from All Progressives Congress (APC)-led states have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing national development through youth-centered policies, following the conclusion of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) Quarterly Meeting held in Kaduna from August 7 to 8.
Hosted by the Kaduna State Government and declared open by Deputy Governor Dr Hadiza Balarabe on behalf of Governor Uba Sani, the two-day forum brought together youth commissioners from across APC-governed states to align youth-focused programmes with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the discussions centred on strengthening institutional frameworks, partnerships, and platforms to empower young Nigerians as agents of inclusive growth and national transformation.
The commissioners also pledged continued loyalty to the leadership of the Progressive Governors, led by PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, while committing to transparent and performance-driven governance in the youth development sector.
They commended APC governors for ongoing investments in key areas such as digital infrastructure, entrepreneurship, vocational training, sports, and creative industries, and praised their proactive efforts in addressing drug abuse, youth restiveness, and unemployment.
A major outcome of the meeting was the adoption of a PGF Unified Inter-State Youth Development Framework to enhance policy alignment and collaboration across states. The forum also stressed the integration of digital skills and entrepreneurship into youth programmes to prepare young Nigerians for a dynamic global economy.
The meeting welcomed the new Kaduna State Commissioner for Youth Development, Gloria Ibrahim, and appreciated the PGF Secretariat, led by Director-General Folorunso Aluko, for its coordination and commitment to youth-focused progress.
The communiqué was signed by youth commissioners from Jigawa, Imo, Cross River, Yobe, Gombe, Ebonyi, Delta, Kogi, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kwara, and Katsina States.
