Former House Leader of Egbeda Local Government Legislative Arm, Hon. Dauda Raheem, has officially entered the race for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency seat in 2027 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Raheem made his declaration at a well-attended event on Friday in Egbeda Local Government Area of Ibadan, where he pledged to deliver grassroots-focused representation anchored on job creation, empowerment, and equitable development.

Highlighting his track record as a former legislative leader, Raheem said his administration secured jobs for 120 residents, while councillors under his leadership facilitated at least three job placements each across various wards. He promised to build on this legacy if elected to the House of Representatives.

“I will ensure dividends of democracy reach men, women, and youth through empowerment initiatives, job creation, and sustainable development,” Raheem said. He also vowed to introduce soft loans for women in small-scale enterprises and work toward equitable resource allocation between Egbeda and Ona-Ara.

Raheem further revealed plans to push for the creation of separate federal constituencies for Egbeda and Ona-Ara, in a bid to enhance representation and better address their unique developmental challenges.

Speaking at the event, former Egbeda Local Government Chairman, Hon. Sodiq Akintunde, described Raheem as a competent and visionary leader with a proven record of service. He recalled Raheem’s role in establishing an ICT centre, securing jobs for youths, and maintaining legislative stability during politically turbulent times.

Akintunde expressed confidence in Raheem’s ability to deliver progressive governance, describing him as a reliable and dependable choice for national representation. He said Raheem’s candidacy signals a return to the “good old ways” of politics and governance in the constituency.
