The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has set an ambitious target of 500,000 votes for the re-election of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as it formally launched its campaign strategy ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
The Director-General of the BAO Campaign Council 2026, Cyril Fasuyi, disclosed this during a press briefing in Ado-Ekiti, marking the official commencement of the governor’s second-term bid.

Fasuyi said the campaign would be anchored on issues and verifiable achievements rather than political attacks, noting that the party intends to engage voters with concrete evidence of performance across key sectors.
“Our campaign will focus on facts and measurable outcomes. We are not going into abusive politics but will relate with Ekiti people based on what has been achieved,” he said.
He cited improvements in security, describing Ekiti as one of the safest states in the country, alongside progress recorded in economic development, education, and agriculture under the current administration.
According to him, grassroots mobilisation has already begun across the state’s 177 wards, with campaign structures activated at community level. The official flag-off of the APC campaign has been scheduled for April 27, 2026.
Fasuyi urged party members to maintain discipline and avoid inflammatory rhetoric, stressing that the credibility of the campaign depends on civility and issue-based engagement.
Setting a bold tone, he added that the party is targeting a clean sweep across all wards, describing the “177-0” goal as achievable given the governor’s performance and what he termed growing public support.
Also speaking, former presidential aide Babafemi Ojudu expressed confidence in the administration’s track record, noting that the prevailing peace in Ekiti distinguishes the state from security challenges in other parts of the country. He described the state as an “oasis of peace” and urged party supporters to intensify voter sensitisation efforts.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, Kayode Babatuyi, called on media practitioners to uphold professionalism by ensuring balanced and factual reporting throughout the campaign period.
Babatuyi commended journalists in the state for responsible reportage and assured that the media would continue to provide fair coverage to all political parties.
The APC expressed optimism that Governor Oyebanji would secure a renewed mandate based on his administration’s performance as political activities intensify ahead of the election.
