APC Nat'l Chairman hails Inuwa Yahaya, declares Gombe a model of unity, progress

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has praised Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for strengthening party unity and delivering visible development across the state, describing Gombe as a shining example of inclusive governance under the APC.
Professor Yilwatda gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House, Gombe, as part of his engagements with party leaders and stakeholders in the state.
In a statement signed by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the APC National Chairman said his tour of Gombe reinforced his confidence in Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s leadership and governance approach.
The statement reads partly: “Today, I see genuine harmony, with people of different faiths working together within one political platform without segregation. This deliberate effort to build social cohesion is highly commendable.
“I have seen completed and ongoing projects across the state — quality road networks, functional healthcare facilities, a modest airport and impressive educational institutions — all pointing to purposeful leadership and prudent management of public resources.
“Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s leadership reflects the core values of the APC: justice, unity and progress. He is a unifier, a progressive and a strong advocate of fairness and equity.
“Gombe State stands today as a model of inclusive governance, political stability and development, and this is a clear reflection of the ideals we uphold as a party.”
Beyond infrastructure, Yilwatda commended the Governor for expanding the APC’s political base through the inclusion of members from other political parties while sustaining harmony among diverse religious and social groups.
He said the Governor had successfully dismantled earlier perceptions of religious division in party politics by fostering tolerance and inclusiveness, urging him to sustain the momentum through people-centred projects and deeper community engagement.
The APC National Chairman also assured residents of Gombe State that the APC-led Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to economic recovery and improved national security through strategic partnerships and enhanced intelligence-driven counter-terrorism efforts.
Responding, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya reaffirmed Gombe State’s loyalty to the APC, declaring the state a stronghold of the party and expressing confidence in its prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Gombe remains firmly APC. Our party is accommodating, inclusive and development-driven. By the grace of God, the APC will continue to grow and consolidate its position ahead of 2027,” the Governor said.
Tracing the party’s steady growth in the state, Governor Inuwa Yahaya recalled that the APC wrested power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019 and returned stronger in 2023 despite political challenges.
He highlighted the party’s growing legislative strength, noting that APC representation in the Gombe State House of Assembly increased from 19 seats at inception to 22 out of 24 seats.
“We will carry everyone along, and we are giving you our one hundred percent support. By the grace of God, 2027 is ours,” the Governor declared.
He further assured the APC National Chairman that the party’s dominance in Gombe would endure beyond his tenure.
“Even after I leave office, my successor will be APC, inshaAllah. Gombe is APC,” he said.
Speaking in his capacity as Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasised unity among governors in the region, likening the current cooperation to the legacy of unity championed by the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto.
He also commended President Tinubu for what he described as tolerant and inclusive leadership, noting that Gombe remains a model of peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims.
