The All Progressives Congress (APC) Leaders’ Forum in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State has called on party members to close ranks and embrace unity ahead of the August 8, 2026, governorship election in the state.
The call was contained in a communiqué issued on Sunday in Osogbo by the co-conveners of the Forum, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye and Hon. Tunji Adesokun. The Forum stressed that unity within the party was critical to securing victory at the polls.
According to the communiqué, the Forum expressed confidence that the APC candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, would win the election “without stress” if party members remained united. It described Oyebamiji as a loyal, committed and highly experienced politician whose candidature should be pursued with a shared sense of purpose.
The group appealed to party leaders at both the state and national levels to intensify efforts to harmonise interests and opinions within the APC, warning that internal divisions could undermine the party’s chances.
“We are approaching a major election, and we must ensure that we go into the poll as a united and cohesive group,” the statement read. “The choice of Oyebamiji as the party’s candidate has made the task easier, but our leaders both at the state and national levels must still work hard and prevent internal sabotage.”
The Forum declared its full alignment with Oyebamiji’s candidacy and pledged to mobilise grassroots support across Obokun Local Government Area to ensure his victory.
It also restated an earlier agreement reached by APC leaders in the council area that members should drop allegiance to other aspirants once the party produces a candidate, regardless of the constitutional mode of selection.
While commending party leaders for ensuring a peaceful primary election process in the state, the Forum urged them to reconcile aggrieved members and bring them back into the fold to strengthen the party ahead of the election.
The communiqué noted that there were indications the electorate was eager for the return of the APC in Osun State, but warned that party members must avoid divisive tendencies. It added that with commitment and unity among members, victory at the polls would be easier to achieve.
The Forum also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; the party’s national leader, Chief Bisi Akande; the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola; the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru; the Osun State Chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal; the leader of the APC Elders’ Forum in the state, Pa Sola Akinwunmi; and other leaders for their commitment to the growth and stability of the party.
