The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said President Bola Tinubu’s ₦5.41 trillion allocation to security in the 2026 Appropriation Bill will significantly weaken terrorist and criminal networks threatening Nigeria’s unity and economy.

In a statement, Seye Oladejo, spokesman of the party in Lagos, described the allocation as an unprecedented and deliberate commitment that reflects the administration’s clear understanding of the country’s security challenges and its resolve to address them.

Oladejo said the President has rightly prioritised security as the foremost responsibility of government, stressing that the objectives of the 2026 budget are practical, measurable, and impact-driven.

According to him, the budget aims to decisively degrade terrorist and criminal networks, restore investor confidence by improving stability, deepen ongoing economic reforms, and reinforce social cohesion by enabling citizens to pursue their livelihoods without fear.

He added that the overarching intent of the budget is to consolidate existing security gains, protect lives and property, and create a stable environment for economic recovery and sustainable growth.

Oladejo noted that the security allocation will strengthen the capacity of the Armed Forces and other security agencies through improved intelligence gathering, enhanced inter-agency collaboration, modernised equipment and logistics, and better welfare and motivation for personnel.

He maintained that no meaningful development can be achieved without peace and safety, adding that the Tinubu administration’s approach recognises security as the foundation for national growth and prosperity.
