Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye expressed concern over the recent surge in killings and kidnappings carried out by terrorists in Kwara, Kebbi, Niger and other parts of the country. He described the situation as unbearable and emotionally devastating for affected families.
The former lawmaker lamented that the abductions of schoolchildren and attacks on worshippers have plunged many households into trauma, leaving communities deserted due to mass displacement.
“I want to passionately appeal to the Service Chiefs to do everything within their power to rescue the abducted children and stop the senseless killings by terrorists across the country,” he said.
According to him, despite the efforts of security agencies, the frequency of attacks particularly targeting students signals the need for an urgent review of operational strategies.
“If it means the Service Chiefs changing their operational tactics to get things right, they should do so without hesitation because Nigeria is bleeding and time is running out,” he added.
Oyintiloye also called on President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to identify and prosecute individuals sabotaging the military’s operations. He warned that reports of internal sabotage and external collaboration must be thoroughly investigated and decisively addressed.
“The President and the NSA should discreetly identify those sabotaging the military’s efforts and ensure they are prosecuted. Those saboteurs within the system must be flushed out before they do more damage,” he said.
While commending President Tinubu for his commitment to securing the nation, the APC chieftain stressed that Nigeria has the capacity to defeat terrorism if all stakeholders cooperate and remain determined.
He urged Nigerians not to lose hope, assuring them that the country will overcome its current security challenges with collective effort and resilience.
