Alleged resignation of Ife South APC chairman is false – Campaign Council

By Ismail Azeez

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Osun 2026 Governorship Campaign Council has dismissed reports claiming that the party’s chairman in Ife South Local Government Area has resigned, describing the publication as false.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, Ife Federal Constituency, Campaign Council, Hon. Olusegun Ayodele Fanibe (Oko-Arugbo), said the purported resignation letter allegedly written by Prince Obiwole Benjamin Adewumi and addressed to an Ayetoro Ward Chairman was not genuine.

He noted that there was no political ward known as “Ayetoro Ward” in Ife South Local Government, adding that the chairman of the council in contention is not Prince Obiwole Benjamin Adewumi but Prince Mufutau Ayodeji Adegbite.

According to the statement, Adegbite played a key role in mobilising party members during the “Walk to Win” exercise held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, for Ife Federal Constituency, said attracted massive participation from APC supporters across Ife South Local Government.

“This is to inform the general public that our attention has been drawn to the above captioned with the titled ‘OSUN APC YES/NO CHAIRMAN RESIGNS FROM PARTY with a letter dated 13th June, 2026 by one Prince Obiwole Benjamin Adewumi and addressed to the Ayetoro Ward Chairman is nothing but figment of imagination.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the name of the chairman of Ife South Local Government which is the LG in contention in the write-up is not Prince Obiwole Benjamin Adewumi but Prince Mufutau Ayodeji Adegbite.

“There is no Political Wards in Ife South Local Government that goes with name ‘Ayetoro Ward’

“While political party is a choice and you can belong to where you want, Prince Obiwole is a Member of All Progressives Congress in Ife South Local Government but chooses to exit the party which in the first instance is needless for him to write resignation letter because when he wants to join the Party he did not write application letter.

“The chairman of Ife South Local Government, Hon. (Prince) Mufutau Ayodeji Adegbite is Progressives to the core and the face of Osun APC Governorship Candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) in the Local Government because when the die was cast, he stood with AMBO from the preliminary till the semi-final and which the final will be August 15th election.

“In the Walk to Win exercise held on Tuesday, 9th June, 2026 for Ife Federal Constituency, he massively mobilized Party Members from Ife South Local Government Ile-Ife for the great exercise which is the talk of the town.

“Therefore, Hon. Adegbite (Eruobodo) has no reason to abandoned the House he built from foundation till roofed without any structural defect but only waiting for it to be painted before moving in on 15th August, 2026,” it added.
