Airtel SmartCash Payment Service Bank (PSB) has unveiled a streamlined cashflow system aimed at making this year’s Easter celebrations more convenient and stress-free for subscribers across Nigeria.
The company announced the initiative in a statement released on Friday in Lagos, describing the upgraded system as part of its ongoing effort to enhance user experience and promote a fully cashless holiday.
Chief Executive Officer of SmartCash PSB, Mr Tunde Kuponiyi, explained that the new system allows customers to upgrade their digital wallets from tier one to tier three with minimal hassle.
The enhanced process includes instant verification through customers’ National Identification Number (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN), secure facial recognition using a selfie, and simplified address validation.
According to Kuponiyi, the wallet upgrade to tier three unlocks higher transaction limits, broader functionality, and added layers of security. “As the Easter season approaches, we understand the financial strain and mobility challenges that come with holiday spending,” he said.
“Our objective is to eliminate the stress of handling cash, waiting in queues, or visiting bank branches, so Nigerians can truly embrace the essence of the season—connection, community, and celebration.”
Kuponiyi affirmed that Airtel SmartCash PSB provides a dependable, cashless alternative that caters to the financial needs of users wherever they may be during the holidays. The platform enables customers to send money, pay merchants, and recharge airtime and data, ensuring consistent service throughout the festive period.
He also noted the rapid expansion of SmartCash’s agent network and digital wallet users, stating that the company continues to close financial access gaps, particularly in underserved areas.
“With our services accessible through mobile devices and a widespread network of human agents across the country, SmartCash offers a straightforward and inclusive path into the digital economy,” he added.
The new system is expected to ease financial transactions during the Easter break while reinforcing Airtel’s position in the mobile money ecosystem.
