The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 15, Maiduguri, AIG Dahiru Muhammad, has urged officers and men under his command to uphold discipline, professionalism, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.
He gave the charge on April 13, 2026, during a lecture held at the Zone 15 Police Headquarters in Maiduguri, attended by members of the Zonal Management Team and other personnel.
The lecture, according to a statement by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muhammad Abubakar, covered critical aspects of policing, including punctuality to duty, intelligence gathering, diligent investigation of cases, and the need to avoid involvement in civil matters.
AIG Muhammad cautioned officers against corrupt practices, unlawful detention, and violations of the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy, stressing that such actions undermine public trust and the integrity of the Force.
He warned that any personnel found culpable of misconduct or human rights abuses would face appropriate disciplinary measures.
The AIG also emphasized the importance of ethical conduct and accountability, urging officers to remain committed, diligent, and patriotic in service to the nation.
The session featured an interactive segment, where personnel engaged the leadership on operational and professional issues.
The lecture forms part of ongoing efforts by the police authorities to reinforce discipline and align personnel conduct with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at building a more professional and trusted police force.
