Afrinvest set to unveil 20th Nigerian Banking Sector Report

…As firm marks 30 years

Afrinvest (West Africa) Limited, one of Nigeria’s foremost investment and financial advisory firms, will unveil the 20th edition of its flagship Nigerian Banking Sector Report (BSR) as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations.

The 2025 report, themed “ACT-BOLD: Turbocharging Nigeria to a New Growth Frontier,” coincides with the firm’s three-decade milestone of shaping policy, driving impact, and delivering innovative solutions to the Nigerian economy.

Since its founding in 1995, Afrinvest has evolved into a leading voice in Nigeria’s financial landscape, known for pioneering data-driven insights, structuring landmark deals, and providing cutting-edge asset management. Over the years, the firm has built a reputation for anticipating shifts and charting bold strategies for investors, policymakers, and businesses.

Reflecting on the journey, Group Managing Director Ike Chioke said: “Afrinvest at 30 is not just a celebration of longevity; it is a proof of resilience, innovation, and our unyielding commitment to building a more inclusive and prosperous Nigerian economy. As we reflect on the past, we also look ahead with a challenge to stakeholders: act boldly, think differently, and work collaboratively to unlock Nigeria’s true potential in line with the government’s $1 trillion economy goal.”

The BSR, now in its 20th edition, has established itself as a resource for thought leadership, reform advocacy, and transparency in the financial services industry. Since its inception, it has provided critical analysis that has influenced discourse and informed policy direction.

Commenting on this year’s edition, Abiodun Keripe, Managing Director of Afrinvest Consulting Limited, noted: “The BSR has become a trusted resource for regulators, investors, and development partners. This year’s theme, ‘ACT-BOLD: Turbocharging Nigeria to a New Growth Frontier,’ speaks directly to the urgency to diversify the economy and harness the power of seven high-impact sectors: Agriculture, Creatives, Tourism and Hospitality, Banking and Finance, Oil and Gas, Logistics, and Domestic Manufacturing.”

The release of the 2025 BSR comes at a time of significant global uncertainty. According to the International Monetary Fund’s latest World Economic Outlook, global growth is projected at 3.0 per cent in 2025, slightly up from 2.8 per cent earlier in the year, but still vulnerable due to tariff shocks, foreign exchange volatility, and unsettled financial conditions. Sub-Saharan Africa, however, is forecast to expand by 4.0 per cent, bolstered by commodity markets and robust export demand.

This economic backdrop underscores the need for extraordinary reforms and strategic investment to position Nigeria competitively in the global economy.

Afrinvest’s anniversary celebration will feature keynote addresses, thought leadership sessions, and networking opportunities aimed at inspiring actionable solutions for Nigeria’s next phase of growth.

More than a commemoration, the event is intended as a call to action to accelerate reforms, unlock opportunities across strategic sectors, and chart a bold path for the next generation.
