Adeleke’s victory painful, but we must move on — APC National Scribe

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has described the defeat of his party and its candidate in the recently concluded Osun State governorship election as painful for him and other party members.

Basiru stated that he invested significant effort into the campaign of the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, disclosing that he personally canvassed across at least 12 local government areas in the state to secure victory for the party.

He made this known while speaking after a visit to Governor Ademola Adeleke, who emerged victorious in the election.

The APC scribe emphasized the need for the party to accept the outcome and move forward in the interest of the unity and progress of Osun State.

He stressed that the governorship election had come and gone, urging APC members and state residents alike to close ranks and collaborate for Osun’s development.

Basiru also congratulated Governor Adeleke on his electoral triumph, despite the outcome not favoring the APC candidate in the keenly contested poll.

“Yes, it is very painful for some of us that he (Governor Ademola Adeleke) defeated our party in the election. I campaigned in at least 12 local governments for my candidate, and I deployed all resources to ensure that we won the election.”

“You can see that we won in Olorunda against Accord, and they narrowly won Osogbo, but that is now in the past. Let us work together for the unity and progress of Osun State.”

“One of the things that Mr. President said when he visited was that when you are a democrat, you must celebrate victory and also show sportsmanship when you lose an election,” Basiru said.
