Sen. Adeola facilitates 5,360 solar streetlights across Ogun

Sen. Solomon Adeola (APC-Ogun West), the party’s governorship candidate, has facilitated 5,360 solar streetlight poles for installation across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Adeola disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta on Sunday by his Media Adviser, Kayode Odunaro, saying the poles would begin arriving in the state from Monday.

The senator said the 5,360 poles were part of a larger batch of 23,000 solar streetlight poles expected to arrive in Ogun before the end of the year.

He said Ogun West would receive 1,900 poles, Ogun East 1,400, while Ogun Central, including Abeokuta township, would receive 2,060 poles.

According to him, the project is part of  the “Light Up Ogun State” initiative, which also covers transformer supply and energisation, rehabilitation and reactivation of electricity infrastructure.

Adeola said the initiative was aimed at improving electricity supply for domestic and economic activities while harnessing solar energy to illuminate communities and streets across the state.

“I am committed to providing energy infrastructure to boost electricity supply for domestic and other economic uses.

“This initiative will also harness solar energy to provide lighting for communities and streets, adding that the objective was to brighten the lives of Ogun residents,” he said.

He recalled that during his three-and-a-half years as a senator representing Ogun West, he had facilitated more than 80,000 solar streetlight poles across the state.

He added that he also facilitated the supply and energisation of 332 transformers of different capacities and the installation of 25 mini-grids in selected hospitals, churches and mosques.
