The Accord Party has announced that the defection of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has significantly increased the party’s membership and national visibility.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja, the party’s National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, said Adeleke’s entry, alongside his political associates and supporters, has propelled Accord into a prominent position ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.
“Since His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, joined Accord along with his political associates and supporters, our party has witnessed tremendous national acceptance as thousands of Nigerians join and identify with Accord across the country,” Mgbudem said.
He emphasised that the surge in membership is a testament to Governor Adeleke’s political influence and national appeal, placing the party at the forefront of Nigeria’s democratic process.
Mgbudem also dismissed claims of factionalisation within the party, highlighting that expelled former presidential candidate Christopher Imumolen had attempted to misrepresent himself as party leadership, but that Accord remains united, stable, and focused on upcoming elections.
The chairman reiterated that the party would not be distracted by “political opportunists” seeking to exploit its growing popularity for personal gain.
