Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has refuted rumors of his planned defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Governor Adeleke dismissed the report as fake and unfounded, describing it as a calculated attempt by political opponents to create confusion among the people of Osun State.
The statement emphasized that the governor remains fully committed to the PDP and has no plans to join the ADC or any other political party.
The statement further clarified that Governor Adeleke’s primary focus is on delivering democratic dividends to the people of Osun State, who gave him their mandate three years ago.
“Governor Adeleke and PDP leaders in the state are actively focused on mobilizing the party’s structure for the ongoing voter registration drive in anticipation of next year’s election, which they believe he is well-positioned to win.” The statement read.
The statement suggested that those behind the misinformation are attempting to leverage the governor’s widespread popularity to their advantage.
The governor’s office urged the public to disregard any reports linking him to a defection and called on his supporters to focus on mobilizing votes for his re-election bid under the PDP banner.
The statement concluded by reaffirming Governor Adeleke’s commitment to the will of the people, who have shown overwhelming support for his leadership and the PDP.
