The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has pledged to significantly lower the prices of petroleum products and eliminate hunger across Nigeria if elected in the 2027 general elections.
The party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Mr Bolaji Abdullahi, made this commitment on Tuesday during a visit to his ancestral home at Anifowoshe compound, Ubadanwaki Ward in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Speaking with journalists, Abdullahi, a former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, said Nigerians had endured severe hardship under the current administration and described the ADC as a credible alternative capable of restoring national stability.
“What is clear is that Nigerians no longer want APC. Any Nigerian who is hungry today knows they don’t want APC anymore. It’s our responsibility to show them that the ADC offers a genuine solution,” he said.
Abdullahi condemned the ruling party for what he called “disastrous policies” that have driven millions into poverty, stifled small businesses, and pushed the cost of living beyond the reach of ordinary citizens.
“This government raised fuel prices to a level where a vulcaniser can no longer afford fuel for his tyre-pumping machine. Parents now give their children N5,000, which cannot buy what N500 could buy before APC came into power,” he stated.
He also accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of deliberately weakening opposition parties in a bid to stifle democratic competition ahead of the 2027 polls.
“They scattered PDP, SDP, ANPP, LP, and destabilised all opposition forces. That’s why respected political figures came together to establish the ADC,” he explained.
Abdullahi further expressed alarm over the rise in insecurity in Kwara State, referencing incidents in Patigi, Ifelodun, and Babanla, where he said bandits and kidnappers now operate freely.
“I have a farm in that area, but it’s no longer safe for me to visit because of bandits. This is the harsh reality facing Nigerians today,” he said.
He appealed to the electorate to reject leaders who have “pushed the nation into turmoil” and embrace a party with a clear and practical vision for national recovery.
“We will restore peace and dignity to Nigeria. By God’s grace, ADC will deliver,” Abdullahi affirmed.
