The AMBO Media Fronts has dismissed claims that deaths were recorded during an end-of-year prayer session in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, describing the report as false, malicious and politically motivated.

The group was reacting to a statement allegedly signed by a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke, which claimed that three persons were feared dead during the prayer session sponsored by Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun election.

In a statement signed by the Coordinator of AMBO Media Fronts, Adebayo Adedeji, and dated December 30, 2026, the organisation said no death was recorded either at Oyebamiji’s residence or at the venue of the prayer programme.

The statement reads partly:
“AMBO Media states categorically that no fatality was recorded, either at Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji’s residence or at the venue of the prayer session in Ikire.

“The allegation being circulated by officials of the Osun State Government is grossly malicious, misleading and deliberately designed to politicise a harmless spiritual gathering.

“This annual prayer session, facilitated by a faith-based organisation, has held successfully for over a decade without any incident, and this year’s edition was no exception.

“No amount of propaganda can destroy the good image of AMBO, whose name is firmly engraved in the hearts and consciousness of the people of Osun State.”

According to the media group, the prayer session is a yearly event organised to thank God for the outgoing year and to seek divine guidance for the new year, adding that it has been consistently sponsored by Oyebamiji for the past ten years.

It noted that the 2026 edition witnessed a massive turnout of Muslim faithful, friends, associates and residents of Ikire and surrounding communities, describing the event as peaceful and successful.

The group accused officials of the Osun State Government of attempting to malign the APC governorship candidate out of fear of his growing popularity and the widespread support he enjoys across the state.

AMBO Media Fronts urged members of the public to disregard what it described as “outright destructive lies” being circulated to mislead the public and damage Oyebamiji’s reputation ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

It further disclosed that legal steps were being taken to clear Oyebamiji’s name and expose what it called a deliberate campaign of falsehood aimed at tarnishing his image.

The statement stressed that Oyebamiji remains committed to peaceful engagement, spiritual upliftment and the wellbeing of the people of Osun State, insisting that political propaganda would not derail his focus or public standing.
