AC Milan join Manchester United in pursuit of Nigeria’s Tolu Arokodare

Former Serie A champions AC Milan have joined the race to sign Nigerian international and Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare, who is also attracting interest from Manchester United, Stuttgart, and Benfica.

Arokodare, 24, enjoyed a standout 2024/25 campaign with Belgian side KRC Genk, registering 23 goals and seven assists in 45 appearances across all competitions. His 17 goals in 30 league matches earned him the Golden Boot in the Belgian Pro League and brought him firmly onto the radar of several top European clubs.

AC Milan, who ended the season eighth in Serie A and missed out on qualification for European competitions, are planning a major squad overhaul under newly appointed head coach Massimiliano Allegri. Allegri takes over from Sergio Conceição, following the club’s disappointing domestic and Champions League performances.

With forwards Francesco Camarda, Tammy Abraham, João Félix, and Luka Jović all expected to depart, Santiago Giménez currently stands as Milan’s only recognised striker. The club is now reportedly considering Arokodare to bolster its attacking options, according to Football Italia.

The Nigerian’s imposing stature and classic target-man style offer a tactical contrast to Giménez, providing greater versatility in attack. Valued at €18 million on Transfermarkt and with just two years remaining on his current contract, Arokodare represents a financially sensible target for the Rossoneri.

Previous reports from Soccernet.ng suggest the striker is also open to a move to Manchester United, which could prompt Milan to act quickly if they hope to beat Premier League competition to his signature.

Although no official bid has been made public, interest in Arokodare continues to grow as the summer transfer window gathers momentum.
