One Touch FC reach Unity Cup final

One Touch Football Club of Abuja defeated Gwarinpa United FC 1-0 on Thursday in the Unity Cup 2025 semi-final to book their place in the final.

The sixth edition of the tournament is ongoing at the Area 3 Football Pitch, Abuja.

The competition is organised by the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Football Coaches Council.

News Men reports that the victory demonstrated One Touch FC’s determination and confirmed their spot in the tournament’s final.

The match was intense. Both teams created chances in the first half but neither side was able to score.

In the 44th minute, Tisan Bulus made a strong run, exploiting defensive gaps, but failed to convert the chance into a goal.

Micah Rinah broke the deadlock in the 50th minute, dealing a heavy blow to defending champions Gwarinpa United FC’s title hopes.

Four minutes later, One Touch FC’s goalkeeper, Ifeanyi Eden, made critical saves to preserve their lead.

Gwarinpa United FC pushed for an equaliser but could not score. The match ended 1-0 in favour of One Touch FC.

Speaking after the match, Head Coach, Jeffery Okoli, expressed pride in his team’s impressive performance against the reigning champions.

“Our boys worked hard and showed resilience. Beating the defending champions wasn’t easy, but we stayed focused and won,” he said.

He attributed their win to effective ball movement and rehearsed strategies that the players executed during the match.

“Our gameplay revolves around movement and deception. We used that to break through and score,” he added.

He recalled that they lost in the last edition’s semi-final to Derby FC but are now aiming higher.

“We’ve gone past our previous limit. Now, we are determined to lift the Unity Cup 2025 trophy,” he said.

News Men reports that One Touch FC’s path to the semi-final was not smooth.

They qualified as the second-best loser from Group A, with nine points, despite a 7-3 defeat to Gwarinpa United FC in their opening game.

Their persistence paid off, and now they are finalists.

One Touch FC will face News Boys Football Club of Abuja on Saturday in the final at 3 p.m. at Area 3 Football Pitch.

Twenty-three teams are participating in the sixth Unity Cup, which began on June 3 and will conclude on June 28 in Abuja
