President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt felicitations to renowned journalist and former presidential adviser, Dr. Reuben Abati, as he marks his 60th birthday, describing him as “a mind that inspires nations and a patriot whose voice has enlightened generations.”

In a statement on Friday signed by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu commended Dr. Abati’s distinguished career across journalism, academia, and public service, noting his enduring impact on Nigeria’s intellectual and media landscape.

The statement reads: “I extend my warmest felicitations to Dr Reuben Abati, renowned journalist and former presidential adviser, on his 60th birthday, November 7, 2025.

“A public intellectual, author, columnist, law graduate and broadcaster, Dr Abati has distinguished himself wherever he has traversed: in the university as a student and later as a Graduate Assistant, as Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Guardian, as a writer and presently as a television anchor.

“His insightful articles, regular interventions and television analyses have continued to enlighten and inspire.

“I commend Dr Abati for his service to Nigeria as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Goodluck Jonathan, as well as his outstanding contributions to the media.”

President Tinubu described Dr. Abati as a man of creativity, versatility, and patriotic spirit, noting that his interventions have consistently shaped national discourse and bridged the gap between governance and public understanding.

He praised Abati’s “unwavering commitment to truth and nation-building,” adding that his voice remains one of the most respected in Nigeria’s democratic space.

The President further congratulated Dr. Abati on the public presentation of his three new books — “Portraits: People, Politics and Society,” “A Love Letter and Other Stories,” and “How Goodluck Jonathan Became President” — describing them as “a testament to his intellectual depth and commitment to history and nationhood.”

Tinubu also joined the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), family members, and colleagues in celebrating the milestone, praying that God grants Abati long life, good health, and renewed inspiration to continue serving the nation and humanity.
