The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA), Dr. Deji Ashiru, has confirmed his participation in the NewsDirect 15th Anniversary and Award Ceremony scheduled for Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Ballroom, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Dr. Ashiru will be honoured with the Award of Exemplary Leadership in recognition of his transformative achievements, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to sustainable water resource management and agricultural development in Nigeria.
The NewsDirect Anniversary & Award Ceremony celebrates 15 years of media excellence, recognising individuals and institutions that have made exceptional contributions to national growth through innovation, transparency, and service.
Under Dr. Ashiru’s leadership, the OORBDA has implemented landmark initiatives that are reshaping the nation’s agricultural and environmental landscape.
These include the establishment of more than 70 new greenhouses, ongoing rehabilitation of existing ones, and the expansion of greenhouse projects to 220 units by the end of 2025—strategic efforts designed to boost year-round food production and enhance food security across the South-West region.
Also, the agency has delivered over 400 solar-powered boreholes across its seven-state jurisdiction, improving access to clean water, empowering farming communities, and promoting sustainable energy use in rural development.
Dr. Ashiru’s commitment to innovation, accountability, and results-driven governance has earned him widespread recognition as a model public sector leader who continues to inspire confidence in the nation’s drive toward agricultural and environmental transformation.
