Sixty-two inmates in Kano State have successfully graduated from the Nigerian Correctional Service’s Continuing Education Programme. The graduates, who sat for the National Examination Council (NECO) and the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) exams, were recognised during a ceremony held on Thursday.

The programme, which is part of the NCoS’s efforts to rehabilitate inmates, has enabled participants to acquire essential educational and vocational skills. The initiative aligns with the NCoS Act 2019 and modern correctional practices, ensuring inmates are prepared to reintegrate into society as responsible citizens.

The Controller of Corrections in Kano, Mr. Ado Inuwa, commended the support from Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf and the Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, for their commitment to improving the welfare and education of inmates.
