The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has emphasised the importance of forming product-based clusters to enhance the competitiveness of Nigeria’s non-oil exports.
Mrs. Nonye Ayeni, the Executive Director of the NEPC, made this point during a seminar in Owerri on Thursday. She explained that forming clusters would enable exporters to negotiate better deals and specialise in particular products, thereby strengthening the value chain.
The seminar focused on promoting clusters in Imo State under the state’s “One State, One Product” initiative, with over 40 participants from various sectors in attendance. Ayeni highlighted how such clusters could boost exports of key products like oil palm, pineapple, cashew, and cassava.
