Anambra State Governor, Prof.Chukwuma Charles Soludo has vowed to transform Anambra into a global tech and trade hub.
Standing before a massive crowd at the refurbished Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka for his inauguration for a second term on Tuesday, Soludo declared that Anambra State has officially returned to its winning ways.
Delivering his acceptance speech, the Governor asserted that while his first four years were dedicated to laying a rugged foundation by tackling insecurity and initiating urban renewal, his second tenure will see the state shift into gear four to secure prosperity for future generations.
He highlighted the dismantling of 64 criminal camps and the ending of the debilitating sit-at-home orders as proof of his administration’s resilience, noting that with order restored, the state is now positioned to transit into an African Dubai, Taiwan, and Silicon Valley by the year 2030.
The Governor’s address served as both a victory lap and a strategic roadmap, as he reminded the electorate that his administration had already delivered over 90 percent of its initial manifesto.
He specifically pointed to landmark projects such as the Ekwulobia flyover and the construction of a new Government House facilities he noted were completed despite not being in his original campaign promises.
Expressing deep gratitude for the 73 percent mandate handed to him by the voters, Soludo described the support as a covenant of love and patriotism.
He further extended a hand of fellowship to his former political opponents, insisting that with the election over, the focus must shift entirely to governance and the collective rebuilding of the homeland.
Representing the President, Vice President Kashim Shettima lauded Governor Soludo as a restless thinker and a public intellectual of uncommon range whose contributions have been vital to nation-building.
The Vice President emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has benefited immensely from Soludo’s specialist insight and patriotic counsel, particularly regarding economic and social reforms.
Shettima praised the Governor for maintaining a cordial and productive relationship with the Federal Government, regardless of party affiliations, suggesting that Soludo serves as a reminder that leadership can unify a nation without compromising its principles or surrendering its soul to partisan hostilities.
The inauguration was a high-profile gathering of Nigeria’s political and traditional elite, featuring former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, alongside the Ooni of Ife and various state governors.
During the proceedings, Soludo also touched upon the national political landscape, describing President Tinubu as cerebral and urging the South-East region to align with progressive forces rather than isolating itself politically.
