A new administrative chapter has commenced at the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning following the official assumption of duty by Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite as the Minister of State.

Welcomed by the substantive Minister, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, on Tuesday, Dr. Uzoka-Anite articulated an ambitious roadmap centered on achieving a $1 trillion national economy by the year 2030.

She emphasized that the successful implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda hinges on a strategic pivot toward private sector-led growth, repositioning the government as a facilitator rather than the primary driver of economic activity.

During her inaugural address to the ministry’s leadership, Dr. Uzoka-Anite outlined a unique economic philosophy that places 95% of the responsibility for national growth on innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders.

She noted that while the government provides the critical 5% through strategic frameworks and policy stability, the true momentum for expansion must come from the private sector.

The Minister expressed her commitment to ensuring that both the national budgeting process and the 2026–2030 National Development Plan are meticulously designed to act as powerful catalysts for attracting investment and bridging Nigeria’s infrastructure and security gaps.

Dr. Uzoka-Anite, who previously served as the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, thanked President Tinubu for the continued opportunity to serve the nation in this expanded capacity.

She noted that her focus would remain on fostering a synergy between fiscal policy and private enterprise to ensure sustainable development.

As the ministry begins work on the next phase of the National Development Plan, her arrival signals a reinforced focus on economic competitiveness and the aggressive pursuit of macroeconomic stability to meet the administration’s long-term financial targets.
