The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has criticized Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq’s response to a recent bandit attack on the Woro and Nuku communities, describing his intervention as cosmetic.
The attack, which occurred late Tuesday night in the Kaiama Local Government Area, left at least 10 residents dead and several houses razed.
In a statement issued in Ilorin, the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, condemned the killings as gruesome and inhuman, noting that a former Students’ Union President was among the victims.
The opposition party argued that the incident highlights a failure of the state government to secure its citizens.
Adewara claimed the Governor’s official statement lacked concrete reassurance and failed to provide immediate humanitarian relief or medical emergency services to the displaced villagers.
“What Kwara needs is decisive leadership, not photo-ops and hollow sympathy,” the statement read.
The PDP accused the administration of presenting a distorted view of state security while kidnappings and village raids continue.
The party called on the state government to urgently deploy aid to the affected communities and urged security agencies to track down the perpetrators.
They extended their condolences to the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Omar Shehu Muazu, and the families of the deceased.
