Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga has described the reasons for Peter Obi’s exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as illogical and self-serving.
In a post on X on Sunday, Onanuga dismissed Obi’s reasons for defecting as illogical musings” and puerile, accusing the former Anambra State Governor of being a political nomad driven by opportunism rather than principle.
He further described Obi as a politician made of jelly who lacks the fortitude to engage in internal party contests.
Onanuga suggested that Obi’s move to the ADC was a strategic evasion of high-profile primary battles.
“He can’t fight Atiku or Amaechi for the ticket of ADC. He pursues the easy road, that will only lead him to doom, like in 2023,” Onanuga stated.
He further characterized Obi’s formal letter to his supporters often referred to as the Obidient movement as a self-serving document designed to mislead his base.
Onanuga argued that Obi’s recurring strategy of switching parties whenever challenges arise demonstrates a lack of soul-searching.
He claimed that instead of addressing his own political shortcomings, Obi consistently shifts the blame onto the current administration.
“Welcome, Peter, to the 2027 race,” Onanuga concluded, signaling that the ruling party is prepared for another high-stakes electoral cycle against the former LP standard-bearer.
