Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on political supporters to stop attacking Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and himself, saying such divisions weaken opposition efforts and threaten Nigeria’s democratic progress.

In a post on his X account, Atiku said: “Those who insult either Obi or myself do not have the best interests of our leaders, the coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), or the country at heart.”

He added that internal squabbles within the opposition benefit only the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“The only persons who gain from such a civil war are the APC urban bandits who want to maintain the satanic status quo,” he wrote.

Atiku renewed his call for solidarity among opposition figures and supporters, stressing: “We are better together.”

He urged all stakeholders to put aside personal differences ahead of upcoming political contests.
