President Bola Tinubu has been urged to remain steadfast in his vision for the country and not be distracted by criticisms, as it is impossible to satisfy every citizen simultaneously.

This admonition was given on Friday by the visiting Imam of the Lekki Central Mosque, Dr. Salahudeen Munirudeen Arriyadhi, during the Jumat service attended by the President in Lagos.

President Tinubu, who arrived in Lagos on Saturday, December 20, to observe the end-of-year festive season, joined other Muslim faithful at the mosque for the weekly prayers.

In his sermon titled ‘Unity in Diversity’ and ‘Remembering the Day of Judgement,’ Dr. Arriyadhi commended the President for the various developmental projects being executed by his administration.

He advised the President to stay focused on governance despite the challenges and dissenting voices.

“You cannot satisfy everyone at the same time,” the cleric stated. “We are praying for you, and you will succeed.”

However, quoting from the Holy Quran, Dr. Arriyadhi reminded the President of the spiritual weight of leadership. He noted that Allah is pleased with leaders who listen to the cries of their followers but is unhappy with those who ignore the needs of the people they lead.

Speaking on national cohesion, the Imam emphasized that human diversity in colour, tribe, religion, language, and nationality was not accidental but divinely ordained.

He argued that these differences should serve as a foundation for harmony rather than a source of friction.

“Diversity is a sign of Allah’s Wisdom. If Allah had wanted every one of his creations to be one, he would have created them one. Diversity in religion and tribe should not be a source of problems,” he added.

The President was accompanied to the mosque by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, among other top officials. They were received at the mosque by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and the mosque’s management committee.
