President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed the newly appointed Minister of State for Finance, Taiwo Oyedele as the right fit to stabilize the economy and drive the administration’s revenue targets.

The President praised Oyedele yesterday during an interaction at the Presidential villa.

He charged the newly appointed Minister of State with the critical task of spearheading a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s fiscal landscape.

The President also praised Oyedele for his patriotism in accepting the ministerial role, describing him as a highly dedicated and determined professional capable of navigating the nation’s complex economic challenges.

The President emphasized that Nigeria’s current tax policies are obsolete and archaic, stating that they are fundamentally misaligned with modern progressive thinking.

He tasked Oyedele with the responsibility of enriching the nation’s fiscal policies to ensure they serve as a catalyst for growth rather than a hindrance to development.

Acknowledging the timing of the appointment, President Tinubu noted that managing fiscal policy during a period of economic instability characterized by stability without significant exponential growth is an exceptionally difficult mandate.

The President also extended his gratitude to the Minister’s family, acknowledging the personal sacrifices required for such a high-stakes national assignment.

He called for continued support for Oyedele as he takes on this additional responsibility to sanitize the financial sector and improve the overall quality of life for Nigerians.
