The lingering uncertainty surrounding the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has been resolved as Party leaders have adopted Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as “Yayi,” as the consensus candidate for the forthcoming election.
The decision was reached during a high-level caucus meeting of key stakeholders, convened to harmonize positions and strengthen party unity ahead of the next political cycle.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, who announced the outcome, stated that the choice of Adeola followed wide consultations and reflected a shared agreement among party leaders.
According to the Governor, the adoption of a consensus candidate underscores the APC’s commitment to cohesion and the continuity of developmental strides in the state.
Abiodun noted that the arrangement represents the collective will of the party and is designed to ensure a smooth transition while sustaining ongoing progress.
Stakeholders at the meeting described Adeola as an experienced legislator with strong grassroots support and administrative capacity, expressing confidence in his electoral prospects.
The endorsement effectively signals the commencement of the party’s governorship campaign, with leaders urging members to close ranks and mobilize support across the state.
Among the prominent figures at the meeting were former governors Gbenga Daniel, Ibikunle Amosun, and Olusegun Osoba, alongside other party chieftains.
With this development, the APC appears to have set the stage for what is expected to be a keenly contested governorship race in Ogun State.
