Wizkid hits 19M spotify listeners for the first time

Wizkid has reached a new milestone on Spotify, surpassing 19M monthly listeners for the first time in his career.

The Nigerian Afrobeats star recorded 19,013,374 unique listeners over the past 28 days, placing him at No. 474 globally. The figure marks a rise from his previous peak of 18.7M, with reports indicating a daily increase of over 100,000 new listeners.

The surge has been linked to renewed traction from songs such as “PONGO,” “Jogodo,” and the globally acclaimed “Essence,” featuring Tems.

The achievement has drawn reactions from fans and industry observers. A user, JahBoy, described the feat as a first-time record for the singer, expressing excitement over the milestone.

Another commentator, Dr Daytona, praised Wizkid’s creativity, noting his ability to revive older or unreleased material and still deliver hit records, a quality he said sets the artist apart.

Wizkid’s global reach has been further strengthened by collaborations with international stars such as Drake and Beyoncé, which many fans credit for expanding his audience beyond Africa.

Fellow Nigerian artist Olamide also acknowledged the milestone, reflecting growing recognition within the industry.

Since his breakout with “Ojuelegba” in 2014, Wizkid has remained a central figure in the global rise of Afrobeats, with his latest streaming numbers reinforcing his influence on the international stage.
