Wike threatens to seize any property used by Turaki-led PDP faction

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he will seal off any building used as a secretariat by the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike made this statement while addressing journalists during a media parley monitored live by TVC News Online on Wednesday.

The Minister insisted that the Supreme Court has recognized Abdulrahman Mohammed as the Chairman of the PDP.

He noted that the activities of the Turaki-led faction, specifically the selling of nomination forms, are fraudulent and must be stopped through lawful means.

Wike explained that opening a bank account in the name of a political party to receive payments for nomination forms requires a certificate of incorporation.

He emphasized that only the duly recognized party secretary has the prerogative to discharge such responsibilities.

“I am here to support them, and I will continue to do so. What I want Nigerians to hear is this: Can they open a PDP Secretariat? Can they open an account and tell PDP members who want to buy forms to pay into it? First of all, any bank that facilitates this will be in trouble,” Wike said.

He added, “To open an account, you must have the certificate of incorporation. The Secretary of the party holds that. Let me see the bank that opens an account for them; that bank will face consequences. If [Turaki], a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, puts his name as a signatory, he risks being disbarred or losing his rank as a ‘Silk.’ He will not do it.”

The FCT Minister noted that such actions amount to defrauding Nigerians and warned that any property used for these activities would be confiscated.

“People should not engage in actions they know are defrauding Nigerians. Because this is fraud, given the existing judgment and the facts on the ground, I will take any house that allows them to operate,” Wike warned.

“I will seal it off! I will not allow any breach of the peace. As FCT Minister, I am here to maintain order and obey the judgment of the court. You must obey it,” the Minister declared.
