I dare you to open a bank account — Wike dares Taminu led-faction

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has challenged the Taminu Turaki led-factions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to open an official party bank account and secretariat if they are confident in their claim to the party’s leadership.

Speaking during a live media chat in Abuja, Wike accused opposition leaders within the party of misleading the public and violating existing court judgments regarding the PDP’s leadership structure.

Wike argued that the faction opposing the recognized leadership lacks the legal standing to operate party affairs and suggested that no financial institution would recognize their documentation.

He specifically challenged the Turaki faction to test the legality of their claims by publicly announcing a bank account for members to pay nomination fees, asserting that such a move would immediately expose their lack of recognized authority.

The Minister also issued a warning against any attempts to establish illegal party offices within the FCT.

He stated that as the minister responsible for maintaining law and order in Abuja, he would seal any unauthorized office that threatened to cause a breach of peace.

Wike maintained that the leadership dispute had already been settled by the courts and urged all parties to stop ignoring judicial decisions for political convenience.
