The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has defended ongoing infrastructure projects and land administration decisions in Abuja, declaring that development across satellite towns remains part of government priorities.
He made this known during his monthly media parley on Arise News on Monday.
Responding to questions on development gaps in areas such as Lugbe, Nyanya, and Mararaba, Wike said the administration remains committed to balanced development but noted that financial constraints and statutory approvals affect project timelines.
“Lugbe should have patience, Lugbe is part of Abuja, we will take care of all the areas, we have been limited by finance, this is why we say people should pay their taxes,” he said.
On transport issues in Nyanya, he said adjustments to transport routes and terminals are part of efforts to improve efficiency in the city’s transport system.
He also noted that some infrastructural decisions require approval from the federal government.
“It has to do with the structure and approval from the federal government,” he stated.
Wike dismissed claims regarding abandoned projects near his residence.
He also addressed concerns about demolitions in Durumi, where displaced residents reportedly returned to affected areas, saying redevelopment efforts would continue.
“Criminals do whatever they want to do and go back to stay. I am saving people because criminals will have no place to hide,” he said.
