Ojude Oba festival serves as a platform for unity, cultural preservation says Oba Tomia I

The traditional ruler of Orile Alagbado Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeshoga Williams Adeyoola Tomia I, has described the Ojude Oba Festival as a platform for promoting unity, preserving cultural heritage, and fostering community development among the people of the kingdom.
The monarch made the assertion during the second edition of the Ojude Oba Festival held at Adura Field, Orile Alagbado, Lagos, where residents, traditional chiefs, political leaders, community stakeholders, youth groups, market associations, and cultural enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the community.
Speaking on the significance of the festival, Oba Tomia I said the event goes beyond colourful displays and festivities, noting that it serves as a reminder of the values, traditions, and identity that bind the people together.
According to the monarch, the progress recorded within the kingdom since his ascension to the throne has been made possible through cooperation, mutual understanding, and the collective commitment of residents towards the growth and development of the community.
He further urged indigenes and residents to remain united and continue supporting initiatives aimed at advancing peace, security, and sustainable development in Orile Alagbado.
The royal father also expressed appreciation to traditional chiefs, family members, political leaders, community stakeholders, and residents for their support and contributions towards the success of his reign and the growth of the kingdom stressing that traditional institutions remain vital partners in promoting peaceful coexistence, preserving cultural values, and supporting government efforts to drive grassroots development.
Also speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Hon (Barr) Mrs Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji reaffirmed the importance of traditional institutions in strengthening community cohesion and accelerating development commending the monarch for his exemplary leadership, fatherly guidance, and commitment to the peace and progress of Orile Alagbado, describing the festival as a reflection of the people’s love, loyalty, and respect for the traditional institution.
The council chairman said the gathering underscored the enduring values, history, and identity of the community while providing an opportunity for residents to celebrate their shared heritage.
“Today, we celebrate our culture, history, unity, and the values that continue to define us as a proud and progressive community. This occasion is more than a cultural gathering; it is a celebration of identity, loyalty, and the traditions that bind us together as one people,” she said.
She further assured residents of the council’s readiness to continue working with traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote peace, security, and sustainable development across the local council area.
She also congratulated Oba Tomia I on the successful hosting of the festival and prayed for continued wisdom, good health, and a prosperous reign for the monarch.
The festival featured cultural displays, traditional performances, music, and community interactions that showcased the rich Yoruba heritage of Orile Alagbado which participants described as a significant cultural event that has continued to strengthen unity among residents while promoting the customs and traditions of the community.
