The factional Abia State Leadership Caucus of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally disassociated the party from the activities of Mr. Don Norman Obinna, declaring that he lacks the authority to act or speak as the state chairman.

During a meeting at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia, the factional leaders reviewed the current leadership structure and emphasized their commitment to internal discipline and the rule of law.

The party’s position is predicated on a subsisting interim injunction from the High Court of Abia State, dated December 3, 2025, which restrains Mr. Obinna from parading himself in any leadership capacity pending a final court determination.

The Caucus noted that any meetings or directives initiated by him are unlawful and constitute a contempt of court.

This stance aligns with an earlier report from the ADC South-East Zonal Disciplinary Committee, which established the party’s official position regarding his conduct.

In a move to ensure administrative continuity, the Caucus reaffirmed Mazi Kanu O. Kanu as the Acting State Chairman of the ADC in Abia State affirming that he will continue to lead the chapter until the conduct of the party’s state congresses.

The Caucus further expressed its unwavering confidence in the national leadership of the ADC under Senator David Mark.

The Caucus stated that it remains firmly aligned with the national vision and is dedicated to upholding respect for constituted authority as part of a broader effort to strengthen the party nationwide.
