Vigilantes rescue woman from suspected killers in Ile-Ife

A 32 year old woman, identified as Lydia Folake Ayobami, was rescued by local vigilantes from suspected attackers at Falolu Street, Kosere Road, Ile-Ife, Osun State, on June 23rd, 2026 around 3pm.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman was allegedly attacked by unidentified men leaving her badly bruised and injured, on the verge of death when members of a local vigilante group arrived at the scene, forcing the suspects to flee immediately.

Following her rescue, Lydia alleged that the fleeing men were the same individuals responsible for the killing of her son and father in law during an earlier attack on her family.

According to a police report, reported in December 2025 at the Moore police division police officer noted that the incident may be linked to a previous attack, where armed men reportedly invaded the family residence in search of her husband, Temitope Damilola Ayobami.

During the earlier attack, her father in law, Ayobami Sanya Emmanuel, was allegedly shot dead, while other family members managed to escape.

The latest incident has heightened concerns over insecurity and suspected targeted attacks in parts of Ile-Ife.

However authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with security operatives working to identify and apprehend those behind the attacks.

The victim has since been taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention, while residents of the area have called for increased security presence and tighter surveillance to prevent further incidents.
