Edos Erhabor, a vigilante leader in the Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, has been declared missing following an attack by suspected gunmen who set his residence ablaze.

Erhabor, who serves as the second-in-command of a local vigilante group supporting security agencies against kidnapping, armed robbery, and attacks on farmers, had reportedly been under sustained threat prior to the incident.

Family sources stated that the threats began on December 1, 2025, when unknown callers warned him to cooperate with criminal syndicates or face deadly consequences.

The callers allegedly claimed that a bounty had been placed on his life. Erhabor reported these threats to the police and was advised to restrict his movements while investigations commenced.

Tensions escalated on February 15, 2026, when another caller allegedly informed him that he could not escape and that his family would not be safe anywhere in the country.

These threats culminated in the early hours of February 22, when suspected arsonists attacked his home. During the assault, Erhabor reportedly urged his wife, Itohan Mercy Erhabor, to flee with their children—Theresa, Iwinosa Eli, and Eseosa Purity to a neighbor’s residence. He has not been seen since.

His wife reported the attack and his subsequent disappearance to the police on February 23.

Sources indicate that she has since received further threats from unidentified callers claiming that Erhabor has been killed and warning that the rest of the family could be targeted next.

The family has expressed deep concern over what they describe as inadequate protection and slow progress in the official investigation.

As of the time of filing this report, the Edo State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
