Unknown gunmen abduct Scripture Union President, executives in Imo

Gunmen have reportedly abducted the National President of Scripture Union Nigeria, Engr. Uwem Cosmas Udoh, along with seven other national executives, sparking widespread concern over Nigeria’s worsening highway security.

The incident occurred around 7:00 am on Sunday, June 14, 2026, along the notorious Orlu-Mgbidi Road in Imo State.

The executives were traveling to Ibadan, Oyo State, after attending a national campus fellowship conference in Okigwe when their vehicle was intercepted.

The news gained traction after a Christian creator, Tolucci, shared details of the incident on social media, prompting anxiety within the Christian missions community and the victims’ families.

In his post, Tolucci called on the Nigeria Police Force and relevant security agencies to launch an immediate rescue operation, describing the situation as devastating.

The Orlu-Mgbidi axis and surrounding routes connecting Imo and Anambra states have become hotspots for violent attacks and kidnappings by armed criminal groups.

This latest ambush further intensifies public scrutiny over the effectiveness of current security measures protecting commuters on federal highways.

As of press time, the whereabouts of the abductees remain unknown, and the Nigeria Police Force has yet to release an official statement confirming the incident.
