Two serving senators resign from PDP in Osun

Two serving senators representing Osun East and Central Senatorial Districts have officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In their separate letters dated June 12, 2025, Senator Francis Fadahunsi and Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi notified their respective ward party chairmen of their decision to leave the PDP.

Fadahunsi notified the Ward Party Chairman of the PDP in Obokun Local Government Area, Osun State, of his decision to leave the party with immediate effect.

The senator, who also chairs the Committee on Industry, cited irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles within the party at the national level as reasons for his resignation.

According to his letter: “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedevilled the party at the national level after the 2023 general elections.

This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends.

It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith.”

Also, the Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, also officially resigned from the PDP.

In a letter addressed to the party chairman, Ward 3, Oke-Ejigbo, Ila-Orangun Local Government Area of the state, dated June 12, 2025, Senator Fadeyi wrote:

“I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect.

“Irreconcilable differences and irreparable division that have emerged, as well as court cases and counter court cases in the last three years, have created factions in the party at the national level.

“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends.”
