The Tour Operators International Conference and Expo (TOICE) has called for increased collaboration across Nigeria’s tourism industry to help scale up the visibility and viability of the nation’s offerings both locally and internationally.

The Convener of TOICE, Mr Ibrahim Makanjuola, made the call in a statement on Monday in Lagos.

Makanjuola, who is also the Managing Director of Getittome Travels, while commending the National Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) for a successful Annual General Meeting which was held in Ondo State, said the event was unifying and forward-thinking.

“The event brought together leading voices in the Nigerian tourism sector and once again reinforced the power of unity, knowledge-sharing, and collaborative growth among tour operators,” he said.

He said it was a timely reminder that the future of Nigerian tourism depended on how well the stakeholders, including governments, tour operators, associations and the private sector among others worked together.

He emphasised the need for continuous dialogue among stakeholders to tackle challenges in the sector and better harness its opportunities.

He further said that partnerships across public and private sectors would not only promote cultural heritage and boost local economies but also enhance Nigeria’s appeal to both domestic and international tourists.

Makanjuola also commended the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for his support and hospitality throughout the event.

He noted that the governor’s presence and the enabling environment provided by the state served as a model for how government involvement can impact on tourism growth.

“The success of the AGM in Ondo is a testament to the great potential that lies within tourism-friendly governance,” he said.

He urged other states to take a cue from Ondo State by supporting tourism events and policies that promote their local assets.

Makanjuola pledged TOICE’s commitment to empowering tour operators through education, industry engagement and exposure to build a more connected and professional tourism industry in Nigeria.

He said TOICE was ready to collaborate with state governments, tourism boards, private businesses and nongovernmental organisations to boost Nigeria’s tourism.
