‘To bridge digital gap’: Sen. Katung begins 700-seater ICT hub in Southern Kaduna

 ‌‌⁠⁠⁠‍⁠⁠‌‍⁠‌‍⁠⁠‍⁠‌​Sen. Sunday Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has inspected the ongoing 700-seater Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre in Southern Kaduna.

Speaking during the inspection of the project in Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Saturday, Sen. Katung said the project was conceived to bridge the digital gap and equip young people with relevant digital skills for the modern economy.

“I decided to bring this project here because our young people, especially our students, need to be exposed to the use of computers and modern technology,” he said.

Katung stated that the facility would provide youth and students with the opportunity to acquire ICT skills that would be useful to them in their education and future careers.

The senator expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work at the site, while charging the contractors handling the project to deliver within the stipulated 12-month timeframe and strictly adhere to specifications.

“I am impressed with the pace and quality of work that I have seen here, but I want to challenge the contractors to adhere strictly to the contractual agreement and ensure that this project is delivered within the stipulated 12 months,” he said.

According to him, the centre, when completed, will not only serve as a CBT centre for JAMB, WAEC and other examinations, but will also become a hub for digital learning, innovation and skills development for youths across the eight local government areas of the zone.

Katung also used the occasion to appeal to constituents to continue to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the developmental strides of Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

Taking the senator round the site, Mr Haruna Daniel, the site engineer, assured that the facility, when completed, would rank among the biggest ICT centres in the country.

“When completed, this centre will be one of the biggest ICT centres in the country. We are committed to delivering quality work and completing the project within the stipulated timeframe,” Daniel assured.

Newsmen report that the inspection tour is part of Sen. Katung’s routine monitoring of projects facilitated for the people of Kaduna South Senatorial District.
