Eno not behind EFCC seizure of Udom Lagos residence — Akwa Ibom Gov’t

The Akwa Ibom State Government has denied that Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno is not behind the seizure of former Governor Udom Emmanuel’s property in Lagos by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The state government made this known in response to allegations made by Senator John James Akpanudoedehe.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, the government addressed a recent social media video in which Akpanudoedehe claimed that Governor Eno was behind the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s alleged seizure of the former governor’s Lagos residence.
Dismissing the claim as a complete fabrication, the administration maintained that the governor has never reported any individual, let alone a predecessor, to the anti-graft agency.
The state government underscored Governor Eno’s consistent push for political harmony and reconciliation, noting his retention of personnel from the previous administration and his commitment to completing inherited projects.
Authorities contrasted this cooperative approach with Akpanudoedehe’s political history, recalling the violence and destruction that marred the buildup to the 2011 gubernatorial elections events for which the senator was previously arrested and prosecuted.
While acknowledging every citizen’s constitutional right to political participation, the government warned that free speech does not extend to spreading falsehoods, provoking unrest, or threatening public security.
Officials emphasized that Governor Eno’s peaceful disposition and commitment to reconciliation should not be misconstrued as weakness or license for destabilization.
The administration stated that it remains focused on executing the ARISE Agenda and delivering people-oriented projects, pointing to the ongoing commissioning of 39 infrastructure initiatives to mark the state’s 39th anniversary.
Urging all political actors to exercise restraint, the government declared that Akwa Ibom will resist any attempts to drag the state back into an era of bitterness and instability.
