The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as a historic revenue surge under his administration, calling it “a new dawn for Nigeria.”

In a statement issued on Thursday by its Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, the party said the record increase recently announced by the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, was clear evidence that Tinubu’s economic reforms were yielding results.

According to Oladejo, revenue collection rose by 411 per cent within a short period, spanning oil, non-oil, Value Added Tax, customs, and for the first time direct remittances from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) into the Federation Account.

“These milestones reflect transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public finance values that had long eluded our fiscal system until now,” he said.

Oladejo described the development as a major setback for what he termed “opposition prophets of doom,” insisting that Tinubu’s policies had laid a foundation for sustainable growth.

He further noted that the new tax regime, scheduled to commence in January 2026, would not increase the burden on Nigerians but instead widen the tax net to promote fairness.

“The reforms are people-centred, designed to balance growth with responsibility,” he added.

The APC spokesman also maintained that the party’s victories in recent by-elections were already serving as a referendum on Tinubu’s administration, which, he argued, was turning the economy around.
