Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday attended a stakeholders’ meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition in Abuja, signalling renewed momentum within the opposition bloc ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atiku confirmed his presence at the gathering via a post on X, describing it as a platform against entrenched political interests.
“I am currently at the stakeholders’ meeting of the Coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja. It’s a meeting of the Nigerian people against the oligarchs who promote poverty and insecurity in the land,” he wrote.
The ADC coalition, adopted in July by leading opposition figures, brings together Atiku, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, and Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.
Following its formation, former Senate President David Mark was appointed interim national chairman, while ex-Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola assumed the role of interim national secretary.
