President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata, describing him as a symbol of humility, generosity, and integrity whose life was devoted to service and philanthropy.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the Dantata family in Kano on Friday, Tinubu said the late industrialist embodied the highest ideals of public service and human compassion. The President’s visit followed a statement issued by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.
Alhaji Dantata died on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Dubai at the age of 94 and was buried in Madina, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
“This is a deeply personal visit for me,” Tinubu said. “He was not just a respected figure; he was part of my family. I came to him for prayers before the 2023 election, and he gave me his blessings. He later came to Abuja to see me such was his humility and sincerity.”
President Tinubu praised Dantata’s unwavering honesty and lifelong commitment to uplifting others, adding: “If goodwill continues into the hereafter, he’ll be found feeding the hungry and comforting the sick. He gave so much to our country and its people.”
Offering condolences to the Dantata family, the government and people of Kano State, and the nation at large, the President said: “We have lost a titan. We have lost the conscience of our country. May Allah grant him Aljannah Firdaus.”
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, speaking on behalf of Kano State, expressed appreciation for President Tinubu’s support, including dispatching a federal delegation led by the Minister of Defence to attend Dantata’s burial in Medina.
Yusuf also acknowledged the President’s interventions with Saudi and Dubai authorities to facilitate funeral arrangements, as well as the earlier visits by Vice President Kashim Shettima and other officials.
“Your leadership made the process smooth and dignified. We are grateful,” the governor said, praying for Tinubu’s continued strength and success in leading the nation.
The eldest son of the deceased, Alhaji Tajudeen Aminu Dantata, thanked the President for his prompt and heartfelt response to the family’s loss.
“You honoured our father in life and in death. Your presence here shows how deeply you valued him,” he said, pledging the family’s commitment to upholding their father’s legacy.
The President was accompanied by key officials including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Minister of Women Affairs Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of State for the FCT Mariya Mahmud, Minister of State for Education Suwaiba Said Ahmad, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
Also present were Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, elder statesman Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, and Alhaji Mohammed Indimi.
